Back on February 8th and 9th, 2008 the United States Art Authority in Austin presented "Art on Deck", a skateboard art show that consisted of boards from the 70's, 80's and 90's from someone's private collection. A person, I never got a chance to meet and someone none of my friends knew either.
My buddy Shawn Rylander decided to organize a little art show consisting of skaters here in Austin who paint, draw, sketch, doodle, photograph and whatever other artsy stuff we do. Appropriately titled, Spare Time consisted of real talent on and off a skateboard. Unfortunately the night before the show was to be held on February 23, the Fire Marshall decided to pay The Broken Neck a little visit.
Lakai Fully Flared Premiere DFW
The video of the year and quite possibly the video of the decade, Fully Flared, will have its officiall Texas premiere that the Lakewood Theater in Dallas on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Watching a video with 829 other people is the best way to experience a video of the significance, and we look forward to seeing most of you there.
Fourcheck: Derek Simon's Beaumont
Beaumont is an exact representation of your average small Texas town. It has a Walmart, a lot of people have a very thick Texan accent, and skateboarders look very out of place. Lucky for us we have Derek Simon to take us through his experience of living and skating in a small Texas town, since most of us are from large cities.
Comer & Burks Backyard Blowout ATX
The first weekend of the 3 consecutive backyard ramp jams hosted by Jon Comer and Travis Burk went off without a hitch or a broken bone in Austin this past weekend at the Terrible One ramp. Not only was there a ramp jam but a Best (Worst) Mustache, Best Costume, Best Slam, Best Tramp-Stamp and other random contests.
Aryeh Kraus is a guy I met briefly one night in Austin just before he had to head back to Los Angeles with his friends after visiting Texas for 9 days to skate and film for Matt William’s video project. All I remember was that he was quiet and had some insane Side Show Bob hair. Well, he came back a couple weeks later on his own and I managed to get a few photos and thought he would be perfect for a little project I wanted to start. 4Duos is happy to present our first “Out of Towner”.
