The first weekend of the 3 consecutive backyard ramp jams hosted by Jon Comer and Travis Burk went off without a hitch or a broken bone in Austin this past weekend at the Terrible One ramp. Not only was there a ramp jam but a Best (Worst) Mustache, Best Costume, Best Slam, Best Tramp-Stamp and other random contests.

It was standing room only all around the deck and anywhere else you could get a glimpse of the action or drink your beer of choice. With some heated warm-up time from new and old faces, you knew right off the bat the actual contest would be a memorable one.

Those who entered went head to head, advancing to the next round, until there was only one winner and that was Bueno flow bro, Adam Young, who skated the entire ramp from spine to vert wall to ghetto extension and even the ski jump. I am pretty sure the backside disaster on the extension sealed the deal but not before everyone else ripped the ramp to shreds.

Highlights definitely included Shawn Rylander with his faces of determination and surprising runs that seemed to shock him too. Andy Mack, decked out in some heinous gear and kickflip wallriding the extension, Shortbus (need I say more), Luke McKirdy skating with such ease and style, Brian Rodgers doing a beer bong after one of his sick runs, that one dude with the thick glasses who seemed to get better the more he drank, Darin from AZ and his non-stop taunting and antics on the bull horn, some really sick Corpus Christi heads, some hot and probably illegal skate betty’s, the what I will call “community beer” and “community weed” I consumed, the slams, the father and son who were shredding and Dang ‘ol Altman who gave Adam a run for his money and probably had the most consecutive tricks on the ramp.

Once the winner was announced, I jetted so I don’t know what happened afterwards or later that night. One can only imagine. Thanks for the good times Jon and Travis and on behalf of 4Duos, we wish you luck in San Antonio and Corpus.
