My buddy Shawn Rylander decided to organize a little art show consisting of skaters here in Austin who paint, draw, sketch, doodle, photograph and whatever other artsy stuff we do. Appropriately titled, Spare Time consisted of real talent on and off a skateboard. Unfortunately the night before the show was to be held on February 23, the Fire Marshall decided to pay The Broken Neck a little visit. (continued below...)

If you don't know, The Broken Neck is a warehouse in east Austin with a rather nice mini ramp and plenty of open space for bands to play and an even better place for an art show in my opinion. But this is exactly what goes on. The owner hosts multiple shows for bands weekly but after too publicity one Friday night, the City of Austin posted up outside; counting the number of people exiting the place and hit him with a fine for not having a permit to hold an "assembly". Pretty sweet huh? Finding this out we decided to cancel it last minute so another fine wasn't given or jail time for our host. Last minute calls and texts telling guests to come by during the day Sunday afternoon instead proved somewhat successful, but for those we couldn't reach and since word had already spread about the show we continued on with a more intimate gathering and some skating Saturday night that carried over to the following day.
